Mobile, Alabama, is the home of the oldest Mardi Gras celebration. Most people think of New Orleans as the place for the February event. Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is the day before Lent starts. The idea is to eat, drink and be merry because the next day you will have to give up something you like.

The Mobile social society uses this time as a coming out opportunity for their 20-something children. There is a king and queen of Mardi Gras and they each have a court. The king and queen have beautiful trains that reflect who they are. The ladies in waiting also that this types of trains. The young men are dressed in traditional Louis XVI dress.
